BBC News School Report 2015 at Clydeview Academy
All of our S2 pupils were working on news stories as part of their Business, Enterprise and Finance course over the last 4 weeks in class during February/March. Based on effort, enthusiasm and quality of work, 20 students were selected to take part in the formal BBC News School Report event on Thursday 19 March 2015.
For our students, this meant being out of lessons for a full day and being based in ICT 2 (otherwise known as the ‘Clydeview News Room’) to prepare breaking news stories for publication on our school web site and to record their news bulletins on video for viewing within school.
Our deadline was to have all news stories ready and uploaded by 2 pm – and by 4 pm the BBC websites links Internet surfers to our school webpage. A massive 55 written reports were submitted by this deadline including topics such as diverse as Britain’s DNA Structure, success for Inverclyde Athletes, debate about having a Scottish National Anthem and the Solar Eclipse.
On top of this, each student was filmed reading their reports as if on the 6 o’clock news including couple of outside broadcasts filmed on school ground. Jamie and Jade signed a number of different reports for the deaf including the weather forecast and a sports story.
Well done to all our reporters –Nicole, Abbie, Abigail, Nikola, Jamie, Alice, Jo, Morna, Ben, Shannon, Nyah, Ewan, Calum, Harvey, Manos, Jade, Joanne, Jason, Chloe, Elise, Jamie, and Jennifer
