Christmas Candy Cane Messages – S3 Business and Finance
In the style of the Apprentice, the Business and Finance classes in S3 formed three companies to compete against each other and also raise money for good causes by selling and delivery Christmas Candy Cane messages to students and teachers across the school.
The groups were tasked with producing the decorative Christmas sweets and thinking of ways to promote their Christmas message service.
Working in sub teams such as Operations, Finance and Sales and Marketing the classes each had up to 84 Candy Canes to sell.
The activity aims to develop business enterprise skills and knowledge and an understanding of the importance and methods of managing finance – as well as skills for learning, life and work.
Each team has chosen a charity to raise funds for and these include the Band Aid Ebola Appeal, UNICEF and Ardgowan Hospice.
Each team sold and delivered their Candy Canes over a three week period at interval and lunchtimes and in a very close competition, the overall winners were the Band Aid team raising over £70.
